WGTE PUBLIC MEDIA LAUNCHES NEW FM 91 SERIES

“Raising Up Ohio’s Women” aims to share the stories and historic accomplishments of some of the most influential women in Ohio

 

TOLEDO, OHIO – July 6, 2023 –WGTE Public Media has launched a new FM 91 broadcast and podcast series “Raising Up Ohio’s Women.” The series will air 26 episodes for 26 consecutive weeks each highlighting a woman from Ohio.
New episodes air every Monday at 8:19 a.m. during Morning Edition and will repeat Wednesdays at 12:31 p.m. during Here and Now and Fridays at 5:18 p.m. during All Things Considered. The podcast episodes will also be located on our website www.wgte.org/ruow.
“I am thrilled to be working on this project,” states producer Savannah Packman. “There are so many influential women from Ohio and their stories all deserved to be shared and celebrated. I have learned so much researching for this series and I am excited to be able to share these incredible women’s stories and achievements.”
This series will share the groundbreaking histories and achievements of some of Ohio’s most influential women. Episodes include Rita Dove, Toni Morrison, Annie Oakley and Betty Montgomery among many others.
Narrator and FM 91 host Mary Claire Murphy states, “These women have raised up society in exceptional ways, and there is no better time than now to raise them up in return. May each illumination ignite the greatness within you too.”
"Raising Up Ohio's Women" is made possible, in part, by a generous gift provided by the Principle Family Action Fund, along with friends of Toledo Rotary and Toledo Symphony, in honor of Sue and Doug Neckers who were fully committed to public service.
“Raising Up Ohio’s Women” is WGTE’s newest podcast series. Other WGTE FM 91 podcasts include “Shakespeare Full Circle,” “Life As We Know It” and “Classical Conversations.”
