Family Fun Day

WGTE Family Fun Day is an annual free event where families with young children can enjoy educational games and activities, puppet shows, face painting, balloons, snacks and more. This coming year's event is tentatively planned for Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter, 7606 W. Sylvnaina Avenue, Sylvania, Ohio. More information will be released as we get closer to the event. The event is made possible with support from The Conda Family.

Past Family Fun Days

Last year's event was held on April 17, 2016 at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter and included:  

  • WGTE Television and Radio Experience Stations
  • Puppet shows performed by the Mazza Museum of Findlay and Joyce Davis & Puppets
  • Live animals from the Toledo Zoo
  • Animal artifacts with the Metroparks of the Toledo Area
  • Fire safety activities with Toledo Fire and Rescue
  • Therapy dogs provided by Chapter 122 Therapy Dogs International
  • Stomp Rockets provided by the Imagination Station

Additional hands-on activities for children were provided by the following community organizations:

  • Lucas County Head Start at WSOS
  • Read for Literacy
  • Seafood Nutrition Partnership
  • Special Needs Means Special Children
  • Toledo-Lucas County Health Department
  • Toledo-Lucas County Public Library
  • Trinity Lutheran School
  • YWCA Child Care Resource & Referral Agency 
The event was made possible with support from The Conda Family. Event volunteers were from the Unviersity of Toledo's Toledo Excel program.
