WGTE Family Fun Day

WGTE Family Fun Day is an annual free event where families with young children can enjoy educational games and activities, a puppet show,  face painting, snacks and meet their favorite PBS KIDS characters! This year's event was held on June 17, 2017 at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter, 7606 W. Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, Ohio. The next WGTE Family Fun Day is tentatively scheduled to take place in the spring of 2018. This event is made possible with support from The Conda Family.

WGTE Family Fun Day

This year's event was held on June 17, 2017 at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter and included the following activities:  

  • Meet and Greets with Peg + Cat, Super Why and Alpha Pig from WGTE PBS KIDS
  • WGTE PBS KIDS Photo Booth Experience
  • FM 91 Radio Experience Station
  • Puppet shows by Joyce Davis and Puppets
  • Live animals from the Toledo Zoo
  • Art in Your Metroparks Activity provided by the Metroparks of the Toledo Area
  • Emergency vehicles and fire safety with Sylvania Fire and Rescue
  • Therapy dogs provided by Chapter 122 Therapy Dogs International
  • Stomp Rockets provided by the Imagination Station
  • Book distribution and literacy activities provided by Books 4 Buddies
  • Sand art provided by Trinity Lutheran School
  • Artistic fish creations provided by Aurora Academy
  • Think your drink nutrition education by Children's Hunger Alliance
  • Keeping quilt activity with University of Findlay's Mazza Museum
  • Robots built by students from the Horizons Science Academy Toledo
  • Construction and design with iLEAD Spring Meadows Elementary
  • Letter crafts provided by Toledo Lucas County Public Library
  • Seed planting with Lucas Co. Soil and Water Conservation District
  • Sand art jewelry creations with YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral
  • Dot art and sensory play led by The Ready Program at Wood County Hospital
  • Bookmark decorating with Toledo Public Schools Head Start
  • Alpha Pig's Alpha Fishing Game with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio
  • Sensory table activities provided by the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center

Additional creative hands-on activities for children were provided by:
