Julie Buzzelli, harp
Julie Buzzelli is a captivating performer who appears regularly as a freelance musician in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
As a chamber musician she works frequently with her husband, guitarist Chris Buzzelli and with flutist Katie Jones. Julie and Ms. Jones have appeared on WGTE’s award-winning program Live From FM 91.
In addition to a demanding performance schedule she is currently the adjunct instructor of harp at Bowling Green State University and is a sought after teacher with a thriving private studio as well.
Ms. Buzzelli is the former principal harpist of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also played with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Lima Symphony Orchestra, American Wind Symphony Orchestra, Augusta Symphony Orchestra, Spartanburg Symphony Orchestra and Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra.
As a soloist she has appeared with orchestras in the U.S. and Canada and toured the United States as a Young Artist under the auspices of the American Harp Society. She’s also performed in Holland, the Isle of Man, Israel, Switzerland and France.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Ms. Buzzelli received her Master of Music degree from Bowling Green State University.
Ioana Galu, violin
A native of Romania, Galu received awards in numerous national and international competitions. Among these, she was awarded the Second Prize in Mozart International Competition for Piano Trios (Romania) and First Prize and Special Prize of SOROS Foundation in George Enescu Violin National Competition (Romania). She also won Second Prize in the Starling Violin Competition (University of Cincinnati) and was the winner of the University of Cincinnati Concerto Competition in February 2004.
She has performed recitals in Romania, Budapest (Hungary), Düsseldorf (Germany), Lyon and Villecroze (France), Bowling Green, Toledo, Cincinnati and New York City. She appeared as a soloist with several philharmonic orchestras in Romania and with the CCM Orchestra in 2004. Ioana spent last summer teaching on the faculty of the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Violin Performance from Gheorghe Dima Music Academy of Cluj. She earned a second Masters in Violin Performance from Bowling Green State University, studying with Prof. Vasile Beluska. Currently she is enrolled in a doctoral program in Music Performance at the College Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, studying under the direction of Dr. Won Bin-Yim. She also performed in master classes for the Voces String Quartet, Amernet String Quartet, Alexandru Gavrilovici, David Erlich, Stefan Milenkovich, Barbara Annette Vogel, Kiss Ladislau, Trio Kadek, Jacques Saint Yves, Sherban Lupu, Devics Sandor and Wolfram Just.
