Daniel Schuetz, tenor and Laurence Dutt, piano

Daniel Schuetz will begin his eighth year as an Assistant Professor of Voice at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. From 1993-98, he was an Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Michigan at Flint. Additionally, he taught voice at Marygrove College in Detroit, Illinois State University and the University of Illinois. In addition to Christian work in the United States, Mexico and the Middle East, Schuetz spent eight years teaching in the public schools of Champaign/Urbana, Illinois, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Schuetz has performed major operatic roles with Illinois Opera Theatre, Opera Illinois (Peoria Civic Opera), Springfield (Illinois) Opera Theatre, Opera Mid-Michigan, Comic Opera Guild and St. Andrew's Players of Ann Arbor, Michigan, The Brevard Music Center, The E.J. Thomas Center (University of Akron, Ohio) and Prairie Fire Theatre Company (Illinois). His opera apprenticeships were with the Brevard Music Center and Opera Mid-Michigan. Schuetz has degrees from Michigan State University, University of Illinois and Illinois State University. Daniel and his wife, Jennifer, taught on the Voice Faculty of the Interlochen Center for the Arts for the past two summers.
Laurence Lynn Dutt of Tiffin, Ohio began piano lessons at age five. He received his Bachelor's Degree in orchestral conducting in 1986 and continued one year of Masters work at the College - Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, with H. Teri Murai and Gerhard Samuel. While at CCM he also worked closely with Eiji Hashimoto, Malcolm Frasier and Walter Levine. In the summers of 1986 and 1987 Mr. Dutt attended the orchestral conducting class of Franco Ferrara at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italia. He was invited as Assistant Conductor to Peter Schneider at Covent Garden, London and to John Mauceri at the Chicago Lyric Opera. From 1987 through 2003 Mr. Dutt performed exclusively music for four hands on one piano with the Italian pianist Cristina Perotti. As the Perotti – Dutt Duo, they had multiple world premiers, frequently performed live on television and radio and four digital recordings on the Electric Records label. Mr. Dutt returned to conducting and accompanying in 2004 as Music Director for the Heidelberg College Opera Theater, The Ritz Players production of “Kiss Me Kate”, and Bowling Green State University’s production of “Children of Eden”. Mr. Dutt is presently finishing his Master’s work in Orchestral Conducting with Dr. Emily Freeman Brown at BGSU and will be Music Director for the productions of “Songs for the New World” and “How to Succeed in Business” in 2005 – 06. Mr. Dutt is a Steinway Artist.
