Eye of the Beholder
In 1992 the Toledo Museum of Art revealed the new Center for Visual Arts
building designed by world-reknowned architect Frank Gehry. Like most of
Gehry's works, this building is a purposefully fractured composition, broken
into discrete volumes with rising and descending forms. The metalic facade
is made of lead-coated copper, giving a fortress-like appearance to the side
and rear of the building.
