Giving Thanks: A Celebration of Fall, Food & Gratitude

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 at 9:00 a.m. (repeated at 8:00 p.m.)

FM 91 celebrates Thanksgiving with an annual tradition: Giving Thanks: A Celebration of Fall, Food & Gratitude. Hosted by John Birge (pictured), Giving Thanks is a contemporary celebration of the spirit of Gratitude.

The musical part of the program features a tribute to Bach, including Simone Dinnerstein; Eric Whitacre’s gorgeous setting of e.e. cumming’s i thank You God for most this amazing day; and Dawn Upshaw sings Maria Schneider’s breathtaking new setting of Winter Morning Walks by Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, who introduces the poem.

Between the music, no clichés about pilgrims and pumpkin pies. This year, two wise, witty women join us at the table: celebrated actor and writer Julia Sweeney, and Anne Lamott, best-selling author of Bird by Bird and Operating Instructions.
