What percentage of the problems in the Maumee River Watershed is coming from Michigan?
The Western Lake Erie Basin Watershed is 4.9 million acres, and includes the Maumee River, Portage River, and the Ohio direct discharge streams into Lake Erie. Ohio has 66% of the land area, Indiana 17% and Michigan 7%.
The Maumee River is by far the largest tributary in this area and drains approximately 4.2 million acres of the 4.9 million acres in the total WLEB project area.
