Weeknights at 8:00 p.m.

Every weeknight at 8:00 p.m., FM 91 features live performances from the nation's top-ranking orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Thursday evenings feature outstanding local ensembles in live performance on "WGTE in Concert," including the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, the Firelands Symphony, Toledo Opera and the Masterworks Chorale.

    Hailed as the number one US Orchestra in the world by the venerable British publication Gramophone, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra continues this season with more concerts from Symphony Center, the home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

    Since its beginning in 1911, the San Francisco Symphony has been known for innovative programs that offer a spectrum of traditional repertory and new music.  Today, the Orchestra's artistic vitality, recordings, and groundbreaking multimedia educational projects, carry its impact throughout American musical life.

    The Cleveland Orchestra’s radio broadcasting history dates back nearly to its founding in 1918. These broadcasts were heard each week by people as far away as Maine, Florida, Minnesota, and Canada. In fact, Cleveland was somewhat of a broadcast pioneer — it was only the third orchestra to broadcast its concerts, having been preceded only by the Detroit Symphony and the New York Philharmonic.

    With music director Alan Gilbert, one of the youngest music directors in the Orchestra's history and the only native New Yorker to hold the post, and your Emmy Award-winning actor and host, Alec Baldwin, The New York Philharmonic This Week, this year's 52 weekly two-hour broadcasts are taken from virtually the Orchestra's entire subscription season.

    WGTE In Concert is "our weekly celebration of the performing arts - music made in the FM 91 listening area by resident musicians, as well as visiting ensembles and soloists." The orchestras of Toledo and Lima are mainstays, with additional concerts from the Masterworks Chorale, Toledo Opera, the Firelands Symphony and other local organizations. Produced and hosted by Brad Cresswell.

    Among the finest orchestras in the country, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is the largest cultural organization in Wisconsin.  Since its inception in 1959, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra has consistently received critical acclaim for artistic excellence.  Today, the MSO continues to reach new heights under the baton of its sixth music director, Edo de Waart.
