Toledo Stories: The African-Americans
Thursday, February 7 at 8:00 p.m.
WGTE's original documentary chronicles the extraordinary stories of African-Americans who came to Toledo in search of a better life for themselves and their families.
Find out more about Ella P. Stewart, the first practicing black pharmacist in the country; LeMaxie Glover, a nationally-recognized sculptor who taught art in the Toledo Public Schools; and Art Tatum, the legendary jazz pianist from Toledo. The program includes fascinating recollections from more contemporary African-American Toledoans.
