East Toledo Storybook Festival

The 2018 East Toledo Storybook Festival was held on Saturday, June 2 at Waite High School's Field House.

Young children and families met Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, watched puppet shows, enjoyed dancing performed by El Corazon de Mexico, participated in fun literacy games and activities, enjoyed a bounce house and received a free children’s book. The event was sponsored by WGTE Public Media, with generous support from the Conda Family, Paramount Advantage, East Toledo Family Center and the Toledo Federation of Teachers and Hope Community Church. 

Families enjoyed the following activities at the 2018 East Toledo Storybook Fest:

  • Met Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat
  • Played in a Bounce House
  • Received a free children's book that was donated by O-I
  • Watched puppet shows by Joyce Davis and Puppets
  • Enjoyed performances by El Corazon de Mexico Ballet Folklorico
  • Played, moved and learned with The ABC's of Movement and Laurie Gombash
  • Made a seed necklace with The Imagination Station
  • Signed up for a library card and enjoyed a Rhyming Ring Toss Game with the Toledo Lucas County Public Library
  • Made their own constellation with The Challenger Learning Center of Lake Erie West
  • Learned how to stay safe and manage emotions with age appropriate activities sponsored by the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center
