World Language Summer Institute with ODE

The Ohio Department of Education is holding a World Language Proficiency Summer Institute in Columbus July 10 and 11. Registration is required but there is no cost to attend. Registrations can be made for Day One, Day Two, or BOTH. Seven (7) contact hours are available each day. The institute will be held at the Bromfield Building at the Ohio Department of Agriculture complex.
The goal of this institute is to help world language teachers implement/enhance proficiency-based programs, which will also help in preparing students for the Ohio Seal of Biliteracy.
Registration available through SAFE/STARS. Key word: WORLD. Choose an end that is after July 12th. Bringing your own laptop is highly recommended.
LUNCH: Lunch will be held ON SITE (there won't be time to go out and buy lunch). Bring your own lunch or do a group order from Jimmy John's when you arrive. $12-exact cash please
Day One: July 10, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m.
Four session rotation: Backward Design and activities for the three modes; IPAs/authentic resources; IPA writing session; World Language Model Curriculum resources.
Day Two: July 11, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m.
Four session rotation: Can-Do statements for Culture and Language; Using rubrics to score writing samples; Grammar in context; Target language strategies.
