Mary Fields (1832 - 1914)

Born a slave in 1832, Mary Fields was one of the most colorful, respected and beloved pioneer women, and she was an integral part of the history and and formation of Toledo's Ursuline Convent. She later became a western legend as "Stagecoach Mary" one of the first women in this country to deliver U.S. mail.
