WGTE TV's holiday programming brings your favorite holiday classics and traditions, combined with new holiday offerings sure to delight. Our local and national specials run through January 1 and are sure to make your holiday season bright!

Saturday, December 1

  • 8 p.m.: 

    Great Performances: Michael Buble: Tour #148 

    - Experience superstar singer Michael Bublé’s visually thrilling and musically triumphant ‘To Be Loved Tour” featuring performances of his biggest hits including “Home” and “Haven’t Met You Yet” along with exclusive footage of Team Bublé travels.

Friday, December 7

  • 9 p.m.: Christmas at Belmont - Enjoy a spectacular holiday performance by nearly 700 student musicians and faculty from the Belmont University School of Music.

Friday, December 14

  • 10:30 p.m.: Holiday Handbells: The Raleigh Ringers - The Raleigh Ringers, an internationally acclaimed community handbell choir based in Raleigh, North Carolina, present holiday song selections from old yuletide favorites to Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” score and other sounds of the season

Monday, December 17

  • 9 p.m.: Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Featuring Audra McDonald - Audra McDonald and Peter Graves join the renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in a holiday concert that includes African-American spirituals and a medley of contemporary favorites.

Tuesday, December 18

  • 9 p.m.: Lidia Celebrates America: A Heartland Holiday Feast - Join chef and food ambassador Lidia Bastianich on a cross-country journey to explore how Americans representing diverse heritages are both preserving their own culinary traditions and transforming local cuisine. Lidia immerses herself in the unique customs of rural towns, inspiring the culminating sequence – a holiday feast.
  • ​10 p.m.: America's Test Kitchen Special:  Home for the Holidays - Features hosts Bridget Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison and the rest of the America's Test Kitchen cast gathered together in a casual behind-the-scenes setting and sharing the warmth of the holidays with viewers.

Saturday, December 22

  • 3:30 p.m.: WGTE Presents: Masterworks Chorale: Radiant Midnight - Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit during the Masterworks Chorale's annual Christmas Concert, filmed live at the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Sunday, December 23

  • 6 p.m.: WGTE Presents:  Handel's Messiah with the Toledo Symphony - Handel’s Messiah returns to the glorious acoustic of Rosary Cathedral. The TSO joins forces with local choirs and international vocalists in this holiday tradition.

Monday, December 24

  • 6:30 p.m.: WGTE Presents: Toledo Jazz Orchestra Holiday Concert - The Jazz orchestra plays holiday pieces from many of the great jazz big bands and arrangers. Repeats December 28 at 10 p.m.

Tuesday, December 25

  • 9 p.m.: WGTE Presents:  The Toledo Chorale Society:  Heavenly Light- We hear the annual Christmas concert, "Heavenly Light" from one of Toledo's oldest choral organizations. Directed by Richard Napierela. Repeats December 27 at 8 p.m.
  • 10 p.m.: Call the Midwife Holiday Special - The nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House face the challenge of the coldest winter for 300 years.

 

Monday, January 1

  • 9 p.m.: Great Performances: From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration 2019 - Continue the cherished tradition of ringing in the new year with the Vienna Philharmonic at the opulent Musikverien with new host Hugh Bonneville.
