WGTE HD TV Daytime Schedule Change Effective March 30, 2020
Starting Monday, March 30, WGTE TV is responding to the learning needs of families with children at home by adjusting its entire daytime WGTE HD TV program schedule to meet the needs of families with children staying at home due to the closure of Ohio schools in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
From 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, WGTE is offering on its main broadcast channel (30.1) blocks of educational programs that are aligned to curricular goals and are targeted to specific age groups -~early childhood,~middle school and~high school~- on its main broadcast channel (30.1). WGTE is pleased to collaborate with Ohio’s other seven public TV stations and PBS to address the learning needs of children who may not have internet access or the hardware that would enable them to participate in their schools’ distance learning services.
The new daytime schedule draws on many popular PBS programs, like "Masterpiece," "NOVA," "American Experience," and recent specials. Even our adult viewers should also find the content appealing.
Until further notice, WGTE HD TV’s weekday programming will be as follows:
- 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. - Current PBS KIDS programs (ages 2 to 8 years)
- 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Grades 4 through 8
- 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Grades 9 through 12
Parents and caregivers seeking regular PBS KIDS programs after 9:00 a.m. will find it on the 24/7 WGTE PBS KIDS Channel (30.2).~We’ll return to our original schedule once the need is over.
In this challenging time, WGTE Public Media remains committed to providing content and resources that help the region in as many ways as possible.
