WGTE Public Media's Early Learning Service demonstrates to parents, caregivers, and educators how to use educational media, children's literature, and engaging activities to help prepare young children to begin school "Ready to Learn." We have been a leader in educational outreach and community engagement for the past 25 years. In 1991, WGTE helped to pioneer PBS Kids' first educational outreach project by working with Fred Rogers and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to research the effectiveness of the Mister Rogers' Child Care Partnership, a precursor to the PBS Ready to Learn Service we have today. It combines quality television programming for children with follow-up activities to improve the reading and literacy skills of preschoolers, especially children from families with low incomes. WGTE Public Media offers for early childhood educators, home childcare providers, and the early childhood community professional development opportunities, special events and early childhood resources from PBS. WGTE is committed to supporting all educators, families, and caregivers with superior resources.
