Using Stories to Teach Computational Thinking Skills and Coding Concepts

Even the youngest students can dive into computational thinking (CT) and start preparing to code! CT is a creative and systematic approach to problem-solving that encourages children to think critically and analytically. By breaking down stories into logical elements, discover how children can develop CT skills—like spotting patterns, following sequences, and understanding cause and effect—while enjoying their favorite books. This workshop is appropriate for teachers of children in PreK-2nd grade.

The workshop is free and is Ohio approved for two hours of professional development credit. If you have a staff of five or more people and would like to schedule a workshop, please contact Allison Mackin at allison_mackin@wgte.org.
